Mikhail Budyko

Mikhail Ivanovich Budyko (Russian: Михаил Иванович Будыко; born January 20, 1920 in Gomel, Belarus, † December 10, 2001 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian climatologist, geophysicists and geographer. He was regarded as one of Europe's leading climate scientists. Numerous models and predictions for global warming go back to his research. Most recently, he worked as Head of the Department for the Study of Climate Change on Hydrological State Institute in St. Petersburg.

Life

1942 acquired Mikhail Budyko in the physical department of the Leningrad Polytechnical Institute and conducted research after his diploma at the Geophysical Observatory in Leningrad main. In 1951 he completed his studies there with a doctorate from and was initially deputy director of the Observatory from 1954 to 1972 he was director of the research institution.

1972-1975 was Budyko head of the climate change research at the Geophysical Observatory Main, since 1975 head of the Department for the Study of Climate Change on Hydrological State Institute in Leningrad (later St. Petersburg ).

Budyko 1964 was accepted as a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, he became a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1992.
