Mikhail Viktorovich Kokljajew (Russian: Михаил Викторович Кокляев; born December 17, 1978 in Chelyabinsk, Soviet Union ) is a Russian strongman and weightlifting.

Sports career

Kokljajew began his career in motor sport as a weightlifter. He had his first international launch in 1997 at the Junior World Championships in Cape Town, where he scored in the Super Heavyweight over 108 kg, duel power 340.0 kg ( 160.0 / 180.0 kg ) and finished 5th. A year later he was employed again at the Junior World Championships in Sofia and was able to reach the 4th place in the new class over 105 kg, with a duel income of 382.5 kg ( 175.0 / 207.5 kg ).

After Kokljajew now had to start in the active region, it was due to the strong Russian squad in the Super Heavyweight, especially Tschemerkin, Mechtcheriakow and Flerko, again only used for the 2002 European Championships in Antalya, where he failed three times to its initial load of 190.0 kilograms in the snatch and then no longer took for thrusting. His last international appearance was Kokljajew at Euro 2004 in Kiev. Here he could only bring his two initial attempts thus obtained 420.0 kg ( 190.0 / 230.0 kg ) in single combat, finishing in 5th place. The winner was Tscholakow with 445.0 kg.

After this European Kokljajew was not nominated for international championship, although he scored regularly at the Russian Championships very good results. He was, for example, 2007 First in the super heavyweight with a capacity of 450.0 kg ( 210.0 / 240.0 kg ). However, he was not considered for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing in consideration, perhaps because of its high flop rate in previous international competitions.

From 2005 Kokljajew participated in Strongmanveranstaltungen and earned since then so full time for a living. However, in September 2010, he announced to want to return to Olympic weightlifting. So Kokljajew started in November of the same year in Belarus, scoring 430.0 kg ( 200.0 / 230.0 kg ) in the Super Heavyweight over 105 kg. On his second puncture test with 240.0 kg propelling himself on the hand and finished the race. Participation in this tournament confirmed the speculation about Kokljajews possible change to Belarus. However, Alexander Goncharov, the coach of Belarus, has denied this now.
