Mikhail Solomentsev

Mikhail Sergeyevich Solomenzew (. Russian Михаил Сергеевич Соломенцев, born 25 Oktoberjul / November 7 1913greg near Yelets, . † 15 February 2008) was a Soviet politician and 1971-1983 Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Russian SFSR ( RSFSR ).

Life

Solomenzew was around 1960-1966 area first secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union ( CPSU ) from Rostov-on- Don. From 1966 to 1971 he was then secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU in Moscow. From 1971 to 1983, he assumed the position of Chairman of the Council of Ministers (Prime Minister) of the RSFSR ( successor Vitaly Vorotnikoff ).

From 1979 he was a candidate of the Politburo, and after his appointment as chairman of the Party Control Commission ( 1983-1988; successor Boris Karlovich Pugo ) he rose - 70 years old - on a full member in the highest political body of the USSR, the Politburo of the Communist Party of Soviet Union, in the period from 26 December 1983 to 30 September 1988. Solomenzew initially supported the reforms of Mikhail Gorbachev, however, from mid-1988, he criticized some developments that occurred. In 1988 he was retired with 75 years.

Honors

Solomenzew twice received the Order of Hero of Socialist Labor, the Order of Lenin five times and twice the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
