Mikitamäe Parish

Mikitamäe is a rural municipality in the Estonian Põlva circle with an area of 104 km ². It has 1161 inhabitants (as of 1 September 2009).

In addition to the main town Mikitamäe to the municipality includes the villages Laossina, Toomasmäe, Varesmäe, Võõpsu, Beresje, Lüübnitsa, Audjasaare, Karisilla, Selise, Igrise, Järvepää, Puugnitsa, Usinitsa, Rääsolaane, Niitsiku, Kahkva and Rõsna ( in descending order according to the number of inhabitants ).

The untouched nature along the river Võhandu and the numerous lakes and bogs is of particular interest for hikers. Culturally, the town is dominated by the people of the Setukesen. Especially in the village Beredje the culture of the Old Believers received. In Lüübnitsa an observation tower offers an expansive view to Russia.
