Mikołaj z Chrzanowa

Mikołaj z Chrzanowa (* 1485 in Chrzanów, † 1562 in Kraków ) was a Polish organist and composer.

Mikołaj z Chrzanowa studied from 1507 at the Cracow University and received here in 1513 the degree of Bachelor. From 1518 until his death he was organist and choirmaster at the Wawel Cathedral. It is believed that Mikołaj Gantkowicz and Mikołaj Bętkowski that ( for 1520-21 and 1550 ) are mentioned as Wawel organist, are the same with him. From 1546 he was also Klavichordspieler at the King Sigismund II Augustus yard. Of his works, only the four-part motet Protexisti me Deus received. It is in an organ arrangement, provided with the signature N. Ch, handed down in the tablature of Jan of Lublina.
