Milan Mandarić

Milan Mandarić (Cyrillic Милан Мандарић; born September 5, 1938 in Vrebac in Lika, Yugoslavia, now Croatia ) is a Serbian -American businessman and multi-millionaire.

Life

He grew up in Novi Sad he took over 21 years the machinery trade of his father, and made him in just five years the largest private companies of the former Yugoslavia. When the Tito government began seriously to make the entrepreneur 's life, he emigrated in 1969 to the United States. There he founded the Lika Corporation, which was to become the largest manufacturer of computer components in the United States after five years. Mandarić moved then with other pioneers in the bay of San Francisco and was one of the founders of high-tech center Silicon Valley.

In 1980 he sold Lika to the computer Tandy Group and founded the telecommunications equipment Sanmina, Flextronics and today beside Tyco the world's largest contract manufacturer. Early 90s Mandarić was also involved in the investment company Behrman Capital.

From 1999 to 2006, the soccer-loving businessman was president and owner of English football club Portsmouth FC, which he profitably sold in two installments in 2006 at the Russian- French- Israeli businessman Alexandre Gaydamak.

Since February 2007 he has been president and majority shareholder of English football club Leicester City.

On 28 November 2007 Mandarić was in the course of investigations into corruption and fraud investigations, in connection with his role as Chairman of Portsmouth FC in 2005, was arrested and during the day it left free again.
