Millburn distillery

Millburn was a whiskey distillery in Inverness, Inverness- shire, Scotland.

History

The distillery was founded in 1805 in Inverness Millburn. Little is known about the early history of the distillery. In 1876, the buildings were renovated and sold the distillery in 1892 Haig & Co. Booth 's Distillery Ltd.. bought the distillery in 1921 and was extensively renovated after a fire in 1922. In 1937, she was of Distillers Company Ltd.. (DCL ) over and went in 1943 in the Scottish Malt Distillers property of ( SMD) over. The operation was the distillery dying eighties victim and was decommissioned in 1985 because there was a lack of space for expansion. The site was sold in 1988 and the buildings partially demolished and rebuilt. Today it is home to a restaurant.

Production

The water used comes from the hole Duntelchaig. Firing was by means of one coarse blister ( wash still ) and fine blister (Spirit Still ).

Samples

The fires produced were an important part of vatted malts Mill Burn. However, there are also single malt bottling present, nowadays they are available in the Rare Malt Series. There are also bottlings independent bottler.
