Millstone River

The Millstone River is a small river in New Jersey, it is the largest tributary of the Raritan River. The river rises in the western Monmouth County and flows in a northerly direction through first by the Mercer County and then through southern Somerset County. He flows through parts of the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park, and is dammed at Princeton on Lake Carnegie.

For about 200 years there are records of the number of floods in the Millstone River Basin. One of the most violent and well-documented caused by Hurricane Floyd in September 1999.

The drinking water is processed for around 10,000 households in the central New Jersey from the river system. For drinking water treatment and distribution of the New Jersey American Water is responsible.
