Milo Urban

Milo Urban ( born August 24, 1904 in Rabčice, † 10 March 1982 in Bratislava) was a Slovak writer, translator and journalist.

Life

Urban has come into the family of a forester in the world, due to the death of the father he had long financial difficulties. Urban has gone into Zázrivá, Polhora, Trstená, Ružomberok and Banská Štiavnica school. He worked in the magazines Slovenský Narod, Vatra, Slovák and in the times of the First Slovak Republic, he was editor in chief of the journal Gardista. After the war, Urban fled to Austria, the people's court has granted him in 1947 a public reprimand. After the war, Milo Urban devoted to the literary activity and translate Czech, Polish and German books. His novel Živý bič is well known and has been filmed also in 1966 by Martin Ťapák.
