Milton (South Uist)

Milton (Gaelic Airidh - Mhuilinn ) is the name of a leasehold farm on the island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland. He is regarded as one of the possible birthplaces of the Jacobite heroine Flora MacDonald ( 1722-1790 ). They also said to have spent part of her childhood here. However, there is now doubt that Flora MacDonald was born here or have lived here longer.

A monument dedicated to her at the remains of the village.

In Milton himself also find ruins of so-called Blackhouses that should have been inhabited, according to excavations in the period 1790-1830.
