The Minato Bridge (Japanese港 大桥, Minato Ōhashi ) is a 983 m long two-story truss bridge in the port of Osaka. Opened in July 1974 bridge is the cantilever bridge with the third largest span in the world.

The bridge is used by the Hanshin Expressway No. 4 Wangan -sen, the lower deck was put into operation in 1991. The structure consists of two symmetrical cantilever beams that are connected to a 196 -meter long suspended beam. The span is 510 m and is second only to the Forth Bridge ( 521 m) and the Quebec Bridge exceeded ( 549 m).

The construction of a cantilever bridge was chosen because of the poor ground and better behavior under earthquake and wind compared to suspension or arch bridges. Built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries Structural should be as light as possible, which is why it made of weldable high-strength steel, which was made especially for the application. The 4200 -ton suspended beam was delivered to the water and lifted in just three and a half hours into the assembly position.
