Minerva G. Carcaño

Minerva G. Carcaño ( born January 20, 1954 in Edinburg, Texas) is an American Bishop of the United Methodist Church.

Life

After her schooling in Edinburg, Texas, Carcaño studied at the University of Texas- Pan American theology, where she graduated in 1975 with a bachelor's degree. Then she succeeded in 1979 the Master of Theology at Perkins School of Theology Southern Methodist University. In the same year she was ordained as a pastor and served it in the following years in various Methodist churches in Texas. From 1992-1996 she worked as a pastor in the organizational South Albuquerque Cooperative Ministry. After that, she was director of the Mexican American Program of Hispanic Studies at Perkins School of Theology. 2004 Carcaño became the bishop in Phoenix, Arizona, was elected.

Carcaño is married and has one daughter.
