Minipreço

Minipreco is the largest discount store chain in Portugal. The head office is located in Lisbon.

The supermarket chain operates 534 stores with a turnover of around 917 million euros in the domestic market. About a third of the stores are franchise operations (as of 2011 ). According to the newspaper report of the Expresso Minipreco plans until the end of 2016 its chain to 600 stores expand nationwide. The market share of Minipreco is located in front of the chains of Pingo Doce (362 stores) and Lidl (227 stores) in Portugal.

Minipreco today belongs to the Spanish group Distribuidora Internacional de Alimentacion SA, but is operated under the brand name Minipreco on.

On the evening of July 25, 2013 were protests in front of the branches of the cities of Porto, Lisbon and Faro held to show solidarity with the four workers / inside the supermarket chain " Minipreco " to. Because of their participation in the general strike of 27 June they had been forcibly displaced from their employers in other branches. To support actions had been called by solidary people on the Internet.
