Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications

The Japanese Somu - shō (. Jap.総 务 省, dt " Ministry of General Affairs "; engl Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, " Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications ", in short: MIC) was born on January 6, 2001 through the merger of the Jichi - shō ( .自治 省, " Ministerim for self-government", English Ministry of Home Affairs ) with the Ministry of Postal Services (邮政 省, Yusei shō ) and Somu -chō (総 务 庁, " authority of General Affairs ", engl. management and coordination Agency, " Office of management and Coordination "). It is responsible for the administration and the public service, the postal and telecommunications systems, control system, and the assignments of the central government to local authorities, the organization of elections and disaster relief. Unlike the interior ministries of many other states, it is not responsible for the police; the latter is under the supervision of the police department, which is assigned to the Cabinet Office of the National Public Safety Commission.

Since the budget of the Ministry contains the assignments of the central government to local authorities, which are in the household after debt service is the second largest line item, he makes up around a quarter of the total budget of the Japanese government.
