Minus the Bear

Minus the Bear is an American band from Seattle.

History

The band was founded in 2001 by members of the bands Botch, Kill Sadie, and Sharks Keep Moving, and has already released five albums, nine EPs and a remix album. The band's music is characterized by the varied guitar Dave Knudsons ( tapping) and many electronic influences. The band, and especially the guitar arrangements, are heavily influenced by jazz. The two guitar lines are highly structured and rhythmically interwoven.

The songs on the first publications usually have entertaining titles, so wearing a song of the album Highly Refined Pirates published in 2002 entitled " Monkey! Knife! Fight! '. Since the album Menos el Oso these humorous titles, however, are nowhere to be found. The name Minus the Bear comes from an inside joke among the band members.

On 2 January 2006, the producer and keyboardist Matt Bayles announced to leave the band to concentrate on his role as producer. His last appearance with the band took place on 28 January 2006, he was replaced by Alex Rose, who has worked as a technician at the band's last album.
