Minuscule 2814

Minuscule 2814 ( in the Gregory- Aland numbering, An20 von Soden ), is a Greek Minuskelmanuskript the New Testament. Previously, it was referred to in all the catalogs with 1RK, but later renumbered as of Aland in 2814. Using palaeography, it has been dated to the 12th century.

The Code contains the Book of Revelation with commentary by Andrew of Caesarea. The last six verses ( 22:16-21 ) are missing. He was on parchment written in small letters with a column of 20 lines per page.

The Code was in Harburg ( Oettingen - Wallersteinsche Bibl, I, 1, 4 ( 0), 1). The entire library and also this manuscript were handed over to the Augsburg University Library.

The Greek text of the Gospels represents the Byzantine text-type. Aland placed it in Category V.

History of the manuscript

This code was used by Desiderius Erasmus primarily as the basis of his first edition of the Novum Testamentum ( 1516). It is the only manuscript of Revelation that used Erasmus. As a result, their readings were the basis of the Textus Receptus.

Erasmus borrowed the manuscript of Reuchlin, but it was then lost for many years. In 1861 it was rediscovered by F. Delitzsch.
