Miskolci JJSE

The Miskolci Jegesmedvék Jégkorong Sportegyesület ( German ice hockey club polar bear Miskolc ) is a Hungarian ice hockey club based in Miskolc, taking part in the Hungarian Hockey League.

History

The history of hockey in Miskolc began in 1978 with the construction of the first artificial ice rink. The physician Georg Lukacs, who played during his studies at the Budapest University of Physical Education ice hockey and ice hockey coach was organized in 1978 the first ice hockey club in Miskolc. The Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation classified it into the second class of the newly formed National Hockey Championship.

In the season 1984/85 Miskolci Kinisci won the second league and entered with other teams on the highest Hungarian Hockey League. In the following years it managed the team from Miskolc always keep the class, but came on the fourth place never beyond.

In the 1989/90 season there were as in the whole Hungarian society in Hockey a radical change. The club had announced financial problems, the cessation of operation of the ice hockey department was for the next season. Particularly through the involvement of many parents of youth departments, a new club, the Miskolci Hoki Club ( MHC) was established to continue the sport of ice hockey in Miskolc on 12 October 1990. The greatest success of the hockey team from Miskolc was the participation in the Hungarian Cup final in 1993, the MHC lost against the team Jászberényi Lehel HC. After problems with players and the Hungarian Association ended 1994, the second phase of hockey in Miskolc. The MHC is continue as a foundation to support the junior and senior team.

On March 16, 1994, again by supporters of Hockey junior in Miskolc the new club Miskolci Jegesmedvék Jégkorong Sportegyesület, the ice club polar bears Miskolc, founded, that lives mainly on voluntary commitment of the club's management, the coaches, technicians and other members. It was once again the goal is to construct from their own offspring a men's team. In 1996 came another team of Miskolc in the 2nd Division (then third division) of the Hungarian Championship. After a third place in the first season, the league was in 1997/98 won and won promotion to the first division. The following year, the team reached the third place in the standings. After a reform of the leagues first league Miskolce rose to the highest Hungarian league. Since there was no relegation in the 1999/2000 season, the Miskolci JJSE was top notch, despite only four wins from 24 games.

In the 1997/98 season occurred in each of the age groups a team of Miskolc in the Hungarian championship and junior players are also found in the national teams. Consequently, the Hungarian Junior Champion title of the year 1997/98 has been reached. In 2000, the rink was renovated and roofed in 2006.

In subsequent years, Miskolc has always played in the first division, though the seasons were always terminated on the rear seats. It was not until 2011/12 was the best placement of the association, in the finals, to be achieved.

Stadium

The home matches of the club will be held at the rink in Miskolc. The ice rink has 1304 seats and 1,000 standing places.
