Missouri Western State University

The Missouri Western State University is a public university located in Saint Joseph, in the U.S. state of Missouri. At the University of approximately 5,100 students are enrolled. It was founded in 1915 as a two-year institution with the name of St. Joseph Junior College. In 1969, the facility was converted into a four -year college and in 1977 it was renamed to Missouri Western State College. On 28 August 2005, the name was changed by an Act of State Missouri Missouri Western State University.

On the three -square-mile campus in the east of the city of 18 academic departments are located. The focus here humanities disciplines, but also scientific and technical directions are represented.

The mascot of the university is the griffin. In the second division of the NCAA, the students entered the 10 sports disciplines (men: baseball, basketball, American football and golf, women's basketball, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball).
