Mister Ed

Mister Ed is an American comedy series by Walter R. Brooks, who presented a talking animal.

It was first broadcast on CBS television 1961-1966. The stars of the series was Mister Ed, an intelligent talking horse, and his owner, architect Wilbur Post (played by Alan Young). The amusing effect was, inter alia, that only Wilbur speak his horse stopped ( because he was the only one Mr. Ed for "worthy" stopped to talk to him). Mister Ed was a worldwide hit TV series, won the 1963 broadcast a Golden Globe for Best TV Show. The theme song of the series was sung by the composer Jay Livingston itself.

The other characters of the series were Wilbur's patient wife ( Connie Hines ) and their neighbors: until 1963, the Addisons (Larry Keating and Edna Skinner ), followed by Kirkwood (Leon Ames and Florence MacMichael ).

Mister Ed received his speaking voice of Allan Lane, when the horse sang, use was made of the voice of Sheldon Allman. In Germany Mister Ed was spoken by Helmut Krauss. The horse Mister Ed represented, whose real name was Bamboo Harvester, was born in 1949 in California and died in 1970. His coach for the series was Les Hilton. Another horse that was used in blatant actions as Mister Ed, died in 1979.

The pilot episode of the series entitled The Wonderful World of Wilbur Pope was first independently produced and broadcast by a revision in January 1961. Then CBS bought the program and began in October 1961 with the regular broadcast. Special guest star was on 22 April 1962 in the 25th episode of the second season, Clint Eastwood Meets Mister Ed, who later became a world star Clint Eastwood to see. Other guest stars of the series were George Burns, Leo Durocher, Mae West and Jon Provost, who was also a star of the series Lassie. The 143rd and final episode was transmitted on 6 February 1966.

Parody and remake

The series was parodied in 1997 by British comedian Harry Enfield BBC television. Mister Ed was modified in Mr. Dead, " the speaking body ".

In 2004, a remake of Mr. Ed was planned by Fox, in which Sherman Hemsley should see Mr. Ed, with David Alan Basche as Wilbur and Sherilyn Fenn as Carol. A pilot was filmed but not yet aired after the suicide of the screenwriter and producer Drake Sather.
