Mitja Zastrow

Mitja Zastrow ( born March 7, 1977 in Mettmann, Germany ) is a Dutch swimmer.

Career

Zastrow was in July 2003, a Dutch citizen, after a conflict with the German Swimming Federation. Currently it's being trained at PSV Eindhoven from Torsten Petsch.

His swimming career was often slowed by injuries. 2001, when he was to go as a German master of the 100m freestyle at the World Swimming Championships in 2001 in Fukuoka, a hand injury prevented his start.

At the 2003 World Swimming Championships in Barcelona, ​​he went for the first time as a Dutch citizen at the start. But this time a back injury threw him back and prevented shows, in most competitions, for which he had qualified.

At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens he won jointly with Pieter van den Hoogenband, Johan Kenkhuis and Klaas -Erik Zwering silver medal in the 4 × 100 m freestyle.

In the Short Course World Championships 2008 in Manchester, he won the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay silver medal in European record time.

Zastrow has a Chinese character tattooed on his left shoulder. The sign reads "猴" and is called "monkey".
