Mitraillette

Mitraillette is a Belgian snack, originally from Brussels. Mitraillette is topped with fried pieces of meat or steak tartar, French fries and different sauces from half a baguette. As side dishes salads or cheese are often used, which is baked in some variants. Mitraillette is served hot or cold.

Dissemination

The snack is especially common in Francophone countries far at fast-food stands. In the Liège region of the snack is also called pain fries or pain Spéciale while being offered in France as a sandwich Américan.
