Mladen Krstajić

Mladen Krstajić [ mladɛn kr̩stajitɕ ] ( born March 4, 1974 in Zenica, SFR Yugoslavia, now Bosnia and Herzegovina ) is a former Bosnian Serb football player.

Career

Mladen Krstajićs professional career started in Partizan Belgrade, where he played from 1996 to 2000. Previously, he was active in NK Čelik Zenica (1984-1992) and the OFK Kikinda (1992-1995 ). In 2000, he was transferred for a transfer fee of around 1.25 million euros to Werder Bremen. After he won with Bremen in 2004, the German championship and the DFB-Pokal, he moved to FC Schalke 04 free transfer, where he usually played together with Marcelo Bordon in central defense. With his new club Krstajić won the DFL League Cup; 2005 and 2007 he was with Schalke each runner. After the 16th matchday of the 2007/08 season Krstajić drew attention to himself by a trip to a club not approved until the early morning hours. He was suspended then on the day of the decisive on persistence in European competition match in the UEFA Champions League against Rosenborg Trondheim. After his contract was not renewed after the 2008 /09 season with FC Schalke 04, Krstajić moved free transfer back to the Serbian club FK Partizan Belgrade, where he has signed a two year contract .. During his nine-year Bundesliga career Krstajić played 243 games, scoring 18 goals.

Krstajić played between 1999 and 2008 59 caps for the Yugoslav and Serbian- Montenegrin national football team and the Serbian national football team, scoring 2 goals.

After the active career he was until the end of December 2011 Sports Director at Partizan Belgrade.

Krstajić is married and has three children.
