Mognard

Mognard is a town in the French department of Savoie in the Rhone -Alpes.

Geography

Mognard is located on 460 m above sea level. M., about 20 km north of the town of Chambery (air line). The farming village extends in the foothills west of the massif of the Wallows, in southern Albanais, at the edge of a plateau of the valley floor, which connects the basins of Rumilly with the Lac du Bourget.

The area of ​​4:10 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Alpine foothills. The northern boundary runs along the Deisse, which here flows in a wide valley from the northeast to the southwest and drains the area to the Lac du Bourget. From the river, the municipality's area stretches south to the neighboring Molassehöhen. On the wooded hill west of the village is 560 meters above sea level. History

Is first mentioned in the 14th century Mognard. Over time, the local name of Mugnard walked over Mugniard and Mogniard to Mognard.

Population

With 423 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Mognard one of the small communities of the department of Savoie. After the population declined in the 20th century, a significant population increase has been recorded since the mid-1970s thanks to the beautiful residential area again.
