Mogno

Mogno is a village in the municipality in the district of Valle Maggia Lavizzara the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. By 1936 Mogno was a separate municipality.

Geography

Mogno lies on 1'180 meters above sea level. M. on the left side of the carrying of the Maggia Val Lavizzara.

History

The place was inhabited throughout the year until the 18th century and served since then as spring pasture. 1936 Mogno was, until then, the common property of municipalities Fusio Peccia and Prato- Sornico, the municipality allocated Fusio, which went up in the community Lavizzara 2004. In recent years, because of the growing tourism several houses renovated and expanded, some of which are now occupied throughout the year. On 25 April 1986 the old church was built in 1636 and a dozen houses in the village were destroyed by an avalanche. At this time, no residents were in place so that no one was injured.
