Mohammed Sleem

Mohammed Sleem ( born January 14, 1892 in Lahore; ? † after 1934; Mohammed Saleem ) was an Indian lawyer and tennis player.

Career

Sleem won in 1915 and 1919 to 1926 throughout the championships of Punjab in Lahore. In 1922 he won at the Indian Championships in Allahabad.

In 1921 he took first at the Wimbledon Championships in part, reaching the knockout stages. In the same year he entered at the Queen 's Club Championships prior to the final, but it lost to the Japanese Zenzo Shimizu. In 1928 and 1934, he was also able to push forward at the French championships to the last sixteen.

Sleem also took part in the Olympic Games in 1924, and reached the third round in singles. There he was eliminated by eventual Olympic gold medalist Vincent Richards.

Between 1921 and 1934 Sleem played for India in the Davis Cup. He won all seven singles matches and seven of his eight double.
