Mohlabi Tsekoa

Mohlabi Kenneth Tsokoa ( born August 13, 1945) is a diplomat and politician from Lesotho. Since 2002 he has been an interruption Foreign Minister of Lesotho.

Life

After schooling Tsekoa completed a teaching degree at the University of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland ( UBLS ), which he completed in 1970 with the approval ( Certificate) as a teacher of secondary school. Between 1970 and 1974 he was first a teacher at the High School Hlotse. After a part-time post-graduate studies at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1973, he received a diploma in education. 1974 saw his appointment as Deputy Headmaster at St. Agnes High School in Teyateyaneng, where he also worked as a teacher of mathematics and science until 1976. At the same time he studied at the National University of Lesotho, where in 1976 a Bachelor of Education ( B.Educ. ) Acquired.

In 1976, he joined as a senior lecturer at the Distance Learning Center of Lesotho, the Lesotho Distance Teaching Centre ( LDTC ) as its director in 1978. In the following years he completed another post-graduate studies in Massachusetts, which he finished in 1981 with a Master of Arts in Organisationsmanement and International Education. Between 1984 and 1986 he was Deputy Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Education before he followed until 1989, the Executive Secretary was.

Tsekoa was appointed High Commissioner of Lesotho in the UK in 1989 and was accredited in this function at the same time until 1996 as Ambassador to Ireland, Portugal and Spain. On 5 July 2001 Prime Minister Bethuel Pakalitha Mosisili appointed him first as finance minister in his cabinet. In a cabinet reshuffle, he was on 12 June 2002 for the first time foreign minister. This office he held until 2004. 2005 appointed him prime minister in a cabinet reshuffle Mosisili Minister for Education and Training, until he was re-appointed on March 2, 2007 by Mosisili to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations.

Tsekoa who is a member of the Lesotho Congress for Democracy ( LCD), was elected in 2006 as a representative of the constituency Senqu for deputies of the National Assembly. In its role as foreign minister, he held in September 2008 before the General Assembly of the United Nations, a speech in which he addressed the energy crisis, the fight against famine and international security.

In the 2012 elections, the government Mosisili was voted out; However Tsekoa remained foreign minister.
