Moisés Solana

Moisés Solana Arciniega ( born December 26, 1935 in Mexico City; † July 27, 1969 in Valle de Bravo) was a Mexican racing driver.

Solana began his career at national motor sport events in Mexico. In 1962 he attempted to qualify for the Grand Prix of Mexico for the first time. The first attempt failed yet, in 1963 he made it with a BRM P57 of the Scuderia Centro Sud eleventh qualifying into the race. The Grand Prix he finished with eight laps behind the winner Jim Clark also finished eleventh. He was there the first pilot of the Grand Prix History of 13 went with the starting number on the car in the race.

In his eight starts at World Championship races points remained within the reach of the Mexican. In training he was able to show his talent certainly exists twice. When the U.S. Grand Prix in 1967, he managed the seventh place in the works Lotus 49. In Mexico, he went from the ninth position on the grid; at two Grand Prix he had to retire from technical defects.

Outside of Mexico he rarely went to the start. He was in a Formula 2 race in Madrid on a Lotus 48 Seventh 1968.

Moises Solana lost his life in 1969 in an accident while mountain race in Valle de Bravo. He lost on a bridge control of his McLaren M6B, the car went up in flames and Solana died at the accident site.
