Mojtyny, Olsztyn County

Mojtyny ( German Moythienen, 1938-1945 Moithienen ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It belongs to the urban and rural community Biskupiec ( Bishop's Castle ) in Olsztyński powiat ( county Olsztyn ).

Geographical location

Mojtyny than twelve miles southeast of downtown Biskupiec ( Bishop's Castle ) on the west side of the Jezioro Stromek ( Stromsee ). The village is of Biskupiec from across the country road 57 and the places Rudziska ( Rudzisken ) Kobulty ( Kobulten ) and Chmielówka ( Chmielowken ) to reach. By the year 2002, it was about the station Kobulty connection to the state railway line 262 of Szczytno ( Ortelsburg ) to Biskupiec Reszelski that is no longer in regular operation.

History

Said before 1785 Moten, and 1938 Moythienen and then to 1945 Moithienen town was founded around 1468 and consisted in 1874 of a rural community and a Gutsbezirk when he was in the newly created District Przytullen: was incorporated (1938-1945 block height, Polish today Przytuły ). This belonged to the circle Ortelsburg in the district of Königsberg ( 1905: Government District Olsztyn ) of the Prussian province of East Prussia.

In 1910 156 residents were in the rural community Moythienen 123, in Gutsbezirk registered. On September 30, 1928, the Gutsbezirk Moythienen was incorporated into the rural community. 1933, the total population of 373 and blief in 1939 to 326 on June 3, 1938, effective July 16, 1938, the name spelling Moythienens for political- ideological reasons was changed to " Moithienen ".

In 1945, the indigenous population was forced to leave in consequence of war, the place that was the Polish name " Mojtyny ". The village is now a sołectwo ( mayor's office ) in the Gmina miejsko - wiejska ( urban and rural community) Biskupiec ( Bishop's Castle ) in the district of Olsztyn ( Olsztyn ) of Warmia and Mazury ( Olsztyn Voivodeship 1975-1998 ).

Church

The population is predominantly Catholic Mojtynys denomination and is in the parish Kobulty ( Kobulten ) incorporated. It belongs to the Dean's Office in the Archdiocese of Warmia Biskupiec Reszelski of the Catholic Church in Poland.

Protestant church members were before 1945 the parish in the parish Kobulten that the church circle Ortelsburg (now Polish: Szczytno ) belonged to the ecclesiastical province of East Prussia the Church of the Old Prussian Union. Today, the site of the parish Sorkwity ( Sorquitten ) is associated with a branch church in Biskupiec. It is part of the Diocese of the Evangelical - Augsburg Church Mazury in Poland.
