Molly Lamont

Molly Lamont ( May 22nd, 1910 in Boksburg, South Africa, † July 7, 2001 in Brentwood, California ) was a British film actress.

Life

Molly Lamont, who came to South Africa in 1910 to the world, went to the successful participation in a beauty pageant to Britain, where she was taken in Elstree by British International Pictures under contract. In 1930 she appeared in a number of British films in which she often appeared as an elegant lady of high society. In addition Gertrude Lawrence in 1932, she was also seen in the Alfred Hitchcock film produced by Lord Camber 's Ladies. Mid-1930s, she was finally invited to Hollywood, where she henceforth was used in numerous supporting roles, as well as in John Ford's historical film Mary of Scotland (Mary of Scotland, 1936) with Katharine Hepburn in the title role, as well as in the film comedy The Awful Truth ( The Awful Truth, 1937) as the fiancé of Cary Grant. Until 1951, when she retired from the film business, she starred in more than 50 feature films.

With the pilot Edward Bellande Lamont was married from 1938 until Andes Bell 's death in 1975. Lamont died in 2001 at the age of 91 years in Brentwood, California.
