Mölndal

Mölndal Mölndal is the capital of the municipality in the Swedish county of Västra Götaland County, is part of the metropolitan area of Gothenburg.

History

Mölndal developed in the 1870s thanks to the water power of the river Mölndalsån quickly from a small mill village into an industrial site. 1911 was one of the city around 5000 inhabitants. 1922 was granted the city rights Mölndal.

Economy

Thanks to the nearby Gothenburg numerous high-tech companies such as AstraZeneca and Ericsson have settled in Mölndal. The pharmaceutical, textile, paper and pulp, food and metal industries are represented in the still heavily industrially significant city.
