Mölnlycke

Mölnlycke is a locality ( tätort ) in the Swedish province of Västra Götaland County and municipal seat of Härryda.

The village is located about ten kilometers south-east of Gothenburg and has suburban character. Large parts of the building consist of single-family and terraced houses. Despite the dense development there are also many green areas, preferably on lakes. Through the center of the Mölnlycke Mölndalsån flows. A small portion (20 acres ) of the area of the village with 341 inhabitants ( 2010) belongs to the neighboring municipality of Mölndal.

History

The settlement arose from workers' dwellings of the clothing manufacturer Mölnlycke AB, which was founded in 1850 and has now specialized in hygiene products. Responsible industrialist was the immigrant from Saxony Gustaf Ferdinand Henning ( 1786-1853 ). Textiles was still produced until about 1990, but in many of the former factory building now other companies have been established. At the end of the 19th century, many nurseries, flowers, fruits and vegetables for the nearby Gothenburg originated in Mölnlycke produced.

The original center of the town was near the train station and was moved in the 20th century gradually to its present location. At the beginning of the 21st century it developed into a city of similar core. 2003, the station was relocated, so that today he is next to the bus station.
