Monarcas Morelia

Club Atlético Monarcas Morelia, also known as Monarcas Morelia Monarcas or short, is a Mexican football club based in Morelia, Michoacán. With their names pay homage to the Monarcas no monarchy, but the same butterfly, which is also the mascot of the club.

The team that plays since 1981 in the Primera División de Mexico, is owned by Mexican broadcaster TV Azteca. With the gambling in the U.S. professional league MLS team Chicago Fire SC is a collaboration.

History

The club was founded on November 21, 1924 under the name " Oro " and later renamed " Oro Morelia ". He is a founding member of the Segunda División, which was first held 1950/51.

When the Puebla FC must withdraw División due to financial problems after the season 1956/57, from the Primera, Morelia draws as runner-up of the second league football into the House of Lords. There Morelia to play for the descent in the summer of 1968.

1981 manages the association, which was in 1974 renamed " Atlético Morelia ," the re- promotion to the top division, which one belongs since then without interruption.
