Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz

Club Deportivo Veracruz, better known by her nickname Tiburones Rojos to German red sharks, are a Mexican football team from Vera Cruz. The acquisition of the license of the riser CF La Piedad, the club plays in the 2013/14 season again top notch.

The predecessor associations of CD Veracruz

In 1908, two sons founded by Spanish entrepreneurs who lived in the Mexican port city of Veracruz, the Veracruz Sporting Club and Sporting Club de Veracruz. Some disgruntled club members, all Spaniards, the club in 1915 turned their backs and called into being a new club: the club Iberia. Between the two clubs is soon a the fiercest rivalries in the history of Mexican club football developed. The former top dog had given birth to his own curse. The reason for their fierce rivalry was next to the generally unpopular elimination probably primarily due to the different social milieu that surrounded the two clubs from the beginning.

At Sporting played both Mexicans and Spaniards, who had their home for a long time in Vera Cruz and all came from a good background. In Iberia, however, played exclusively Spaniards, much of which came from the majority rather simple families. The elder Sporting Club belonged at the time the local affection, especially the city's politicians and the local media. As was the offspring of Iberia Club in the season 1917/18 won the junior championship of the league del Sur, it was the open hostility on the part of a long-established citizens of Vera Cruz. Since then each of their derby was like a battle between the local aristocracy (Sporting ) and the common people (Iberia ).

In August 1918 Iberia changed its name to Club España de Veracruz and henceforth also played in the Primera Fuerza, which at the time probably the best league in the country, whose winner was also a master of Mexico. After España had occupied twice in a row, the last place ( in a total of 28 games, it was only enough for five wins ), it had come in the next two years to association disputes and from 1922/23, only clubs from the capital for the operation of gambling the Primera Fuerza approved were, the club played back only in the league del Sur, which was largely dominated in the 1920s by the arch-rivals Sporting.

After due to re- association disputes the championship was suspended in the 1930/31 season and soon there were two competing organizations, the newly founded in July 1931 Federación Mexicana del Centro de Fútbol Asociación as legitimate organizer of the for of it was by most clubs quickly 1931/32 organized capital League recognized. Because the two capital clubs Real Club España México CF and the new league created under the now existing conditions would not accept, two other teams that season were invited in their place, 1931/32 to play in the Primera Fuerza. One of these two teams was the Sporting Club and the other club Leonés from Mexico City.

However, because the two boycotters wanted to participate in the game mode again in the season 1932/33, the Association of the two visiting teams but also did not want to compromise, the league was played due to the increased number of participants now in two groups with ascent and descent way. The reason for its previous position has slid in the second group Sporting Club disappointed it down the line and ended the B group with just one win and a draw in last place. After the season, the club withdrew from the Primera Fuerza and played from now on only in the native league Veracruzana.

The introduction of the Mexican professional league from the season 1943/44, made the hitherto unthinkable possible: to be namely included in the Primera División and to be able to keep up there, the previously warring clubs Sporting and España banded together to Club de Fútbol Vera Cruz, the colors of the predecessor clubs, red ( Sporting) and blue (España ) got. The association from which the still existing Club Deportivo Veracruz should be later, held in the new professional league not only with, but got within a few years even two championship titles in the port city.

History of the CD Veracruz

The CD Veracruz was founded in the first half of 1943 and was already a few months later a founding member of the introduced in the same year professional league, which began play operation in the 1943/44 season with ten teams.

The next few years should prove to be the most successful in the club's history. With their outstanding players Star, Luis " Pirata " Fuente, the honor, the stadium in Veracruz is named today, the Tiburones Rojos ( red sharks) were twice champion (1946 and 1950) and Cup Winners' Cup once (1948 ). It should be the only title of the club history remain, even if Veracruz still three times (1950, 1968 and 1995) should reach the finals in the local cup competition.

Immediately after the second championship and won the missed double ( the cup final was 1:3 after extra time against CF Atlas lost ) in 1950 began the decline. Plagued early in the following season of serious financial problems followed in summer 1952, the relegation to the second division, the one with one point behind the CD Toluca finished the following year in second place and thus buried his hopes of an immediate revival had. Connected to this disappointment was a true player exodus that allows the club for the subsequent Cup tournament is not allowed to get a team together, which is why the FMF, the Mexican Football Federation, the club unceremoniously withdrew the license. That was the end of the first epoch of Tiburones Rojos.

Simultaneously with her descent in 1952 her Extorhüter Gustavo Fricke had founded with Atlético de Veracruz a new club, which should form the basis for the revival of the starving CD Veracruz later, the once in the Segunda took from the 1961/62 season División. Just three years later, also benefited from the expansion of the Primera División from 14 to 16 teams and played between 1964 /65 and 1978/79 again top notch.

After re- descent waned interest of the audience and so the club retired in the summer of 1984 again back and sold his second league license to a team of Yucatán. In the football loose time a famine began after this sport, as they had not yet seen him in Veracruz before. With the political support of the government of the state of Veracruz acquired in 1989 a group of local entrepreneurs the club and bought the División just starting out in the Primera Ascended Potros Neza the license, so that Veracruz took their Erstligaplatz. The unexpectedly rapid return of the club in the top flight had triggered a hitherto unprecedented wave of enthusiasm in the city. So in the first season in 1989/90, all 19 home games were sold out and also to away games, the team was accompanied by thousands of fans.

In the summer of 1998, the third relegation followed in the second division, where the club remained until the eventful season 2001/ 02: The first round concluded the belonging to that time, the Pegaso Group club as Apertura champions from, making him an early stage of qualifying for the great ascent final end of the season succeeded. Same economic group included the first division club CD Irapuato, which was commissioned in the winter of 2001 of these from the first division and replaced by the CD Veracruz. So Veracruz came once more unexpectedly early return to the Primera División. At the end of the season, however, the owner sold the license of the association to the Jaguares de Chiapas newly established, so that Vera Cruz again found himself in the second division. And when there had won the Apertura, you could against the winner of the Clausura, the Club San Luis to play the climb. Veracruz lost, but was due to the expansion of the league from 19 to 20 teams a second chance and was allowed now against the bottom team of the first division, the club León compete. Here Veracruz prevailed, León scored in the second division and returned to the Primera División itself, the one belonged to the renewed decline at the end of season 2007/ 08. For the 2013/14 season, the Tiburones Rojos -bought, the return to the first division.
