Monfortinho is a comune ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Idanha -a-Nova. 540 inhabitants live in it (as at 30 June 2011).

History

The Romans took advantage of the local mineral springs for which Monfortinho remained known until today. It was 1640 in the restoration largely destroyed and its local significance could not then recover.

Culture and sights

The place is known nationally particularly for its spa and its healing springs.

His stone cross, its border and customs building, and its parish church are under monument protection.

Every year on the 11th and 12th day after Easter, the feast of Bodo is celebrated in the community, with one of Nossa Senhora da Consolação (English: Our Lady of Consolation ) thanks, since we here in 1870 from a general plague of locusts spared and the following famine remained.

At the airfield Monfortinho Flying competitions are organized occasionally.
