Mongaguá is a town on the coast of the Brazilian state of São Paulo. Mongaguá is part of the metropolitan region of Baixada Santista to about 35 km northeast preferred port city of Santos. The distance to the state capital São Paulo is around 65 km. The municipality has about 43 284 inhabitants (2008 ) in an area of 143 km ², which corresponds to a population density of 328 persons per square kilometer.

Mongaguá BALNEARIA has the official status of a spa, an Estancia. The economy is dominated by the tourist. Numerous beaches attract visitors mainly from the capital city of São Paulo, with more than 10 million people. The municipality is developed for tourism since the 1970's and has since then developed from a predominantly rural to an urban settlement structure. With the tourism and construction, trade and services grew.

The area of Monguagá between the rivers Rio and Rio Monguagá Aguapeú was originally inhabited by the Guarani Indians. From 1532 Portuguese settlers and missionaries began to travel the known water quality and fish wealth country. 1948 Mongaguá only became an independent district within the municipality of Itanhaém before it even became a separate parish in 1959. In the municipality there are also two reserves, Itaoca and Aguapéu.

Mongaguá is excellent transport links connected with São Paulo and also the over 4550 km along the coast of eastern Brazil Natal in the north to Porto Alegre in the south along the leading national road BR -101 goes through the village. In Mongaguá even the roads are symmetrically laid out in a NW- SW scheme. The village lies at the foot of a steep, densely by the Atlantic Forest, the Mata Atlântica, vegetated mountains. The municipality consists of about 60 % of lowlands and 40% of mountains and hills.
