Mónika Juhász Miczura

Mónika Juhász Miczura is a Hungarian Roma singer, which is also known under the name Mitsou.

Life

Mónika Juhász Miczura comes from the Southeast Hungarian Békéscsaba near the Romanian border. As a child she learned from her mother, an ambitious singer, traditional songs and dances of the Roma. Her first stage appearance was at the age of sixteen in a talent competition in a school.

After they had moved to Budapest, Jenő Zsigó, the leader of the group Ando Drom became aware of it and incorporated it as a singer in this group, of which she was eight years.

As a singer she can be heard in various films: Gadjo Dilo (1997), Je suis né d'une cigogne (1999), Vengo (2000) and Swing ( 2002) by Tony Gatlif and Kísértések (2002) by Zoltán Kamondi. In addition, it is represented as a guest musician on albums of other internationally renowned musicians: Rien Dans Les Poches (1998) Bratsch, Can not Make Me! - Nekemtenemmutogatol! (2003), Gyi! (2005) and Ha megfogom az ördögöt (Once I Catch the Devil) (2006) by Besh o droM as well as Queens and Kings (2007) of Fanfare Ciocărlia. She was a participant in the Global Vocal Meeting project.

Along with former members of Ando Drom, she founded her own company in 2003 Mitsoura, which released his first album with the same title Mitsoura in the same year. 2008, the latest album dura dura dura this group was formed. A special atmosphere gets their music including through the application of Indian vocal techniques.
