Monika Stadler

Monika Stadler ( born February 19, 1963 in Linz) is an Austrian harpist, composer, teacher, producer and vocalist. The musician lives temporarily in Vienna, temporarily near Northampton, United Kingdom.

Training

Monika Stadler began learning the harp at the age of 12 years - first folk harp with Berta Höller, a year later already concert harp at the Linz Bruckner Conservatory. From 1982 she studied concert harp at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, in Adelheid Blovsky - Miller. Already during her studies she played with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna State Opera Orchestra and was also member of the ensemble at the Carinthian Summer.

1990 graduated Stadler graduated with honors. 1991/92, she received a scholarship to study in the United States. Scholarships BMUKK enabled studies with Deborah Henson Conant, jazz harp, the jazz bassist David Clark ( Berklee College of Music, Boston ) and David Darling, free improvisation, also in the USA.

As of 1993, Monika Stadler exclusively with their own projects on tour in nearly all European countries, in addition to Israel, Morocco, Algeria, the USA, Canada, Japan and Vietnam. She has performed at the most important harp festivals:

Stadler's " special love " applies, in addition to solo performances, Duo or Trio projects. Her duo partners include, among others Wayne Darling / bass and Waterphone, Franz Schmuck / Percussion, Diana Grubsic / Harp and Veronica Hvalić / piano. However, she also appeared with Kurt Edlmair / clarinet, Richard Austrians / harmonica, Jon Sass / Tuba, Heinrich von Kalnein / sax, Sandor Rigo / Sax, Peter Ratzenbeck / guitar and Reinhard Ziegerhofer / double bass and the Reform Art Unit. In addition, there have been projects in collaboration with artists from other genres such as literature with Erika Pluhar, or Elisabeth Orth, and with Dagmar Schwarz, dance and painting.
