Monocle (media company)

Monocle is an international news and lifestyle magazine. It was launched by the Canadian journalist and entrepreneur Tyler Brûlé in 2007 and is published ten times a year. Publishing and editorial staff based in London and the editorial offices in New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Zurich.

The magazine deals with a wide range of subjects of international relations on culture and design. The CBS reporter Harry Forestell described Monocle as " a blend of Foreign Policy and Vanity Fair ", Gawker called it " a lifestyle magazine for young, stylish, business-oriented jetsetters ".

On the Monocle site content from the archive for paid subscribers are provided. In addition, there are free podcast offerings and the column Mono Column that is composed of editors and correspondents of the magazine and is published daily. In an online store Monocle products are available that emerged from design and fashion collaborations with labels such as Comme des Garçons, Delvaux, Kitsune, Orlebar Brown, Aspesi or Malmsten. These products are also available in Monocle shops that are in place in London, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Hong Kong and New York.

In June 2010, Monocle brought out a newspaper with the title Monocle Mediterraneo. The paper disputes the iPad trend of other publishers, which justified the Monocle editor in chief so that they could " not on the beach " read an iPad. In December 2010, the winter edition of the newspaper was published with the title Monocle Alpino.
