Silver Moony ( Monodactylus argenteus )

The monos or monos ( Monodactylidae ) (syn. Psettidae ) are a family of related bass fish that usually live in mangroves in the coastal Indo-Pacific and the coast of West Africa in the coastal sea, brackish and fresh water. The 20 to 25 cm long animals live socially in small groups.

Features

Your body is high backs, almost disc-shaped, in some species higher than long and laterally compressed (eg Monodactylus sebae ). Fins leaves are shiny silver color, its length is depending on the type eight to 31 centimeters. Dorsal and anal fins are elongated, its front part is higher. The fins are covered with small scales, which fall off easily. The mouth is small, relatively large eyes, the lateral line follows the line of the back.

There are two genera and six species:
