Montfort, Netherlands

Montfort ( Limburg: Mofert ) is a town in the Dutch province of Limburg, about 8 km south of Roermond. It belongs to the municipality Roerdalen. In Montfort live 4000 people.

History

Built in the 13th century castle of Montfort was a headquarters of the county funds. Around 1270 Montfort received city rights. Since 2007, the city belongs to the municipality Roerdalen.

Events

In Montfort hosts the annual early May at the castle instead of a well- frequented classic car meeting, where in addition to historical tractors and farm equipment and old cars, motorbikes, trucks and military vehicles can be visually observed.
