Posterholt

Posterholts is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg.

The approximately ten miles southeast of the city of Roermond in the Rurniederung on the border with Germany village is home to 4,420 residents of the largest district of the municipality Roerdalen.

History

The first written mention comes from a post Erholts Act of the year 1147.

The formerly independent municipality Posterholts merged in the municipality reorganization in 1991 with the towns of Montfort and Sint Odiliënberg, the community formed changed 1 February 1994 her name Posterholts in Ambt Montfort. In a related municipal reorganization, the " Ambt Montfort " is then merged into the municipality Roerdalen 2007.

Attractions

In Posterholts there are two classified as Rijksmonument buildings designed by the architect Pierre Cuypers, the fort Aerwinkel and the grave chapel Geradts - Regout.
