Montmirail (Marne)

Montmirail is a commune with 3793 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Marne, in the Champagne -Ardenne region. The village belongs to the district Epernay and is the administrative center of the canton of Montmirail. The inhabitants of the village are the Montmiraillais.

Location

Montmirail is the capital of Brie Champenoise, the part of the Brie region, bordering the Champagne. Paris is about 100 miles away, Epernay 40 km, Chalons-en -Champagne 65 km from Reims 70 km, 80 km Troyes, Provins 45 km, Château- Thierry and Meaux 25 km 50 km.

The place is located at the Petit Morin, on a hill north of the river.
