The Montseny is a mountain range in the Spanish autonomous region of Catalonia, north east of Barcelona.

In 1978, the solid was designated as a nature park, in Catalan is called Parc Natural del Montseny this. The nature park is 301.2 km ² and comprises 18 municipalities, spread over the three Comarques Vallès Oriental, Selva and Osona.

The name comes from the Latin Montseny: Monte Signum ( "Signal Mountain" ) he was called, probably because his striking profile of many places of Catalonia could be seen ( and can not).

The highest elevation is the Turo de l' Home with 1706 meters in the Vallès Oriental and many other peaks are over 1,000 -meter mark. From about 1875 the mountain was discovered by botanists and nature lovers, but also by poets and writers, and has since become a popular tourist destination.

The natural conditions on the one hand and the cultural impact of humans on the other hand, who has left his mark there in the form of churches, castles, farms and roads, meant that UNESCO has the whole area designated as a biosphere reserve.

The park administration is located in Fontmartina, community Fogars de Montclús.
