MONUA

The United Nations Observer Mission in Angola, short MONUA ( from the French Mission d' Observation des Nations Unies en Angola) based on UN Security Council Resolution 1118 of 30 June 1997 and took place from 1 July 1997 to February 26, 1999 in Angola instead.

She was the successor mission UNAVEM III mission. The headquarters of the mission was located in Luanda.

Mission

The mission was led by Issa B.Y. Diallo from Guinea in the function as Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of Mission, assisted by Major General Seth Kofi Obeng from Ghana, who was responsible for the deployment of the armed forces. Used were 240 Mission staff, including 12 military observers, civilian police monitors 6, supported by a civilian staff of international and local staff in this uniformed. Troop of MONUA were Egypt, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Ghana, India, Jordan, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Senegal, Zimbabwe and Uruguay. During the deployment of 14 MONUA-A came ngehörige killed.
