Mordechai Ben David

Mordechai Werdyger (born 16 April 1951), Artist name: Mordechai Ben David ( Mordechai son of David) or MBD short, is a popular musician of Orthodox Judaism and is often referred to as the " King of Jewish Music ".

Werdyger has released numerous albums with Jewish music. His father David Werdyger, a popular Jewish singer and cantor, comes from Krakow and is one of the Schindler Jews. Werdyger combines traditional Hasidic melodies in his songs with contemporary pop.

Werdyger lives in Sea Gate, Brooklyn.

  • Lichtiger Shabbos on the album Just One Shabbos ( Yiddish under the title on Solid MBD ) is an adaptation of Close Every Door To Me from the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
  • Yidden on Jerusalem: Not For Sale used the title Genghis Khan of the German pop band Dschinghis Khan.
  • Dear Father on Yerushalayim Our Home ( under the title "Daddy Dear" on The English Collection) used the title Littlechild, have interpreted the many singers ins. Cab Calloway and his daughter in 1956; this song is in turn based on a French song.
