Mosaik
The MOSAIC is the oldest and largest circulation still appearing comic German production.
The magazine was founded in 1955 in East Berlin. The first issue with the three Digedags as the main hero then appeared in the new publishing life in December 1955. First, the appearance was quarterly, since Issue 7 (June 1957), the book came out monthly. As of January 1960 ( Issue 38), the magazine switched to publishing Young World. As of Issue 10/ 1991, the mosaic due to the settlement of the publishing world boy was interim published by the Society of Procom Communications and Marketing in Berlin. The series is from issue 193 (corresponding to the number after conversion chronologically the Issue 1/ 1992) laid stones for publishing in the mosaic tiles.
Today's heroes of the stories are the three goblin -like figures Abrax, Brabax and Califax, together known as Abrafaxe.
The MOSAIC currently appears with a monthly circulation of about 100,000 copies. Are sold nearly 74,000 copies, of which around 40,000 in subscription. According to Mosaic publisher is about half of the readers older than 30 years ( as of 2009).
Digedags
From December 1955 to June 1975, published under the auspices of Hannes Hegen 223 books, playing in 23 centuries of human history and their main heroes were the Digedags. The booklets telling the adventures of Digedags in mostly large, across many books extending continuous arcs. For special popularity it has the number Ritter Runkel brought (notebooks 90-151, published from May 1964 to June 1969 ), set in the Middle Ages.
In retrospect, nurture laid claim to have created completely apolitical picture stories. However, the Space Series ( books 25-44 ) is at least imbued with the spirit of the Cold War. The later books are but then increasingly an adventure comic after classic pattern. The Digedags can always be found as a force for good, and on the side of ordinary people.
The end of 1974 nurture announced his contract, so the publishing other authors sought. 1975 already published books from the Ritter Runkel series were repeated in the second half to bridge. At this time, Lothar Dräger worked but already hard on a new concept for the MOSAIC, which was later partially implemented. When designing the main characters ultimately Lona Rietschel was able to prevail with their designs. The fact that the main characters should be three goblins with similar characteristics as the Digedags again, was a demand by the publisher, the editorial collective.
The mosaic of Hannes Hegen was translated into several languages and published including in the Netherlands, Finland and Hungary. Foreign distribution channels and sales prices were taken from issue 121 ( December 1966 ) in the imprint on the back of the booklets. For the old Federal Republic, this was the Helios - literature -Vertriebs-GmbH in West Berlin, where first, a price of DM 0.80 and from issue 128 is listed by DM 0.60. In Austria, the Austrian Communist Party belonging Globe publisher took over the distribution of the 5 ATS expensive books, and in Finland there was a sale of the company Kausankulttuuri Oy for the price of 0.80 Wc. Finally, a quotation for the Netherlands and Belgium followed in Number 176 with 0.70 guilders or 10 bfr; Distributor was here Uitgeverij Het Palet.
Abrafaxe
Since January 1976 MOSAIC appearing successor of Digedags are also three goblin -like figures who travel through time and regions of the world. They were called following the Digedags Abrafaxe and it has given them a similar appearance. Your characters have over their predecessors but more differentiated. Cherish strained in the wake of a copyright procedure, but could not prevail in court.
The three heroes Abrax, Brabax and Califax to enjoy great popularity today. The Abrafaxe have their predecessors, the Digedags, overhauled with more than 450 regular stapling and various spin-offs in 34 years of publication time by far. So far, more than 200 million books of both series were sold.
Anna, Bella, Caramella
In August 2008, appeared as an offshoot to the actual mosaic series for the first time a mosaic with the three female main characters Anna, Bella and Caramella. The first occurrence of the characters was at the back of the magazine 392 and continued in the following issue. Not only purely external and temperamentally they seem to be the feminine counterpart to the Abrafaxe, they are also connected to a yet unexplained way with the Abrafaxe.
