Moscow Conservatory

The Moscow State P. I. - Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Russian Московская государственная консерватория имени П. И. Чайковского ) is the most famous musical training facility in Russia.

The Conservatory was founded in 1866 by Nikolai Rubinstein, brother of the famous Russian pianist and composer Anton Rubinstein and founder of the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky held a position as professor of theory and harmony here until about 1878. On the conservatory was almost the entire elite of Russian music with the exception of those who have studied in St. Petersburg, such as Sergei Prokofiev, trained. Famous graduates include, for example, Sergei Rachmaninoff ( with the large gold medal ), Alexander Scriabin ( with the small gold medal ), Nikolai Medtner, Lazar Gosman, Yevgeny Krylatow and Alexander Kobrin.

A famous teacher was Lev Nikolayevich Naumov.
