Moscow on the Hudson is an American comedy film directed by Paul Mazursky from the year 1984. Germany premiere was on November 2, 1984.

Action

The saxophonist Vladimir Ivanov worked in the pre- perestroika in the early 1980s at the Moscow Circus. He feels unhappy, lives in a crowded apartment with his whole family. Compared to his superiors he must grovel for shoes he must be present for hours in a queue. To buy gasoline for his little car on the black market, he roams the streets again and again. His grandfather would you most like to see behind bars because he was yelling anti-Soviet slogans out the window.

The circus will be sent to New York. Vladimirs friend Anatoly, who has spoken all the time from weaning, remembers differently. Vladimir, who has tried all the time to talk to his friend his plan, however, is made up from that. At Bloomingdale's, he hides behind the counter of the perfume department. There he learns the seller Lucia know. Still in the department store he asks for asylum in the United States. The black security guard Lionel Withersppon has sympathy with the refugee and lets him stay with him in Harlem.

Life in New York Vladimir has somewhat differently. He needs to find a job, he speaks little English, he is lonely and has to be reported anxiety.
