Danube

The Bridge of the Slovak National Uprising (Slovak officially Most SNP, short for Most Slovenského národného povstania, from 1993 to August 29, 2012 officially Novy most - New Bridge ) in Bratislava a 1967-1972 is based on a design by A. Tesár, J. Lacko and I. Slamen built road bridge over the Danube, which is named after the Slovak National Uprising.

Construction

It is designed as asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 303 m. Your steel structure suspended from ropes that are anchored on the side of Petržalka into two pillars. The total length of the Danube bridge is 430.8 meters, its width is 21 meters and its weight 7,537 tons. In 2001, the bridge was declared a "Building of the Century".

On the bridge, two lanes in each direction are present. Below the roadway levels are located on both sides of footpaths. At the southern end of the bridge connects the street Panonska with direction divisors of Petržalka. Next to the bridge is the Janko - Kráľ Park. On the north side there is a connection point to the poor along the Danube shore road leading Nábrežie. Gen. L. Svobodu, while the roadway as the Staromestská itself leads further into the old town. Just below the junction, which is also the approach ramp to the bridge, there is a bus station with tram links and buses to Vienna.

When building a part of the old town was (for example, Jewish quarter and synagogue Neolog ) demolished to make room for feeder and the bridge itself.

Tower Restaurant

A special attraction is the restaurant located in 80 meters height in UFO or ship shape on the 84.6 meter high pylon of the bridge. The restaurant opened in 1974, was previously called Bystrica, but was closed in 2003 and reopened on 15 June 2005 under the name UFO. ( Seen from the north ) via a lift in the left pillar you get into the restaurant, which offers a good view of the city. Above the restaurant is located in 95 meters height, nor a vantage point. The right pillar has an emergency staircase with 430 steps. History

For the bridge, which was built back in 1945 by the Red Army former Franz Joseph bridge should replace (Old Bridge today ), there had been three planning alternatives. A western variant, which was vehemently rejected because of their border near military and Interior Ministry, an eastern variant at Winter Harbour that ultimately was considered too little central, and the chosen in the end old town near line, which in 1963 set in the development plan with the force of law. Despite this definition (resistance against the plan was seen as punishable offense ) reported in the relatively liberal climate of opinion of the sixties contradiction, which was driven primarily by artists and intellectuals. It was not so much the shape and appearance of the bridge itself as to the motorway which was thus necessarily connected.
