Mothra

Mothra (JapaneseモスラMosura ) is a Kaiju (Japanese怪 獣, literally " strange beast, mysterious beast" ) from the Toho film studio.

Mothra is an oversized moth. Although in the original Japanese Mothra no gender is assigned, she was awarded by the English dubbing a female assignment, which was acquired in the German dubbing.

After Godzilla, Rodan and Mothra Varan Toho developed with the fourth movie monsters. Her first appearance was in the film of the same Mothra ( 1961). Most of them will be shown in their various stages of development ( egg, larva, pupa and finally Motte ). In the majority of her appearances in films Mothra is a " friendly " monster, aimed to defend their descendants but also to destruction. The representation of Mothra differs significantly from the previous monsters were represented as beasts with destructiveness. Mothra is in the movies, a frequent opponent of Godzilla, where they can be seen frequently as the winner.

Mothra is one of the few Japanese monsters, in which not worked with Suitmation. Instead, the Mothra figure was at (at least almost always) hung invisible threads and animated by puppet animation.

Family Film

Mothra is of two little fairies - twins ( Emi and Yumi Ito ) - accompanied the original " Shobijin " ( "little beautiful women " ) are mentioned. You are in telepathic contact with Mothra and they can call for help through a magical song. This constellation was already evident in the first films that a different target group was sought. The development of the family film continued in the Mothra trilogy (1996-1998 ).
